Full stops up to 15-minute intervals are needed for construction activities as part of 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project in Stafford County

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers on Interstate 95 southbound who use the exit 133/Route 17 interchange in Stafford County will experience delays overnight as construction continues on the 10-mile extension of the 95 Express Lanes.

Starting at 10 p.m. tonight, July 21, a single right lane on I-95 southbound will close near the interchange.

Weather permitting, all traffic on the I-95 southbound off-ramp at exit 133 will be intermittently stopped overnight for up to 15 minutes at a time. The full stops will be completed by 4:30 a.m. tomorrow, July 22.

Overnight travelers on I-95 southbound seeking to exit to Route 17 northbound or southbound are encouraged to use the exit 136/Centreport Parkway interchange to avoid delays.

The on-ramps from Route 17 northbound and southbound to enter I-95 southbound will remain open.

All I-95 northbound travel lanes and ramps will also remain open during this work zone.

Message boards will be posted to provide advance notice of the ramp stops and delays.

Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control at the interchange.
