Loop Ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) South to I-66 West in Centreville Re-Opening to Traffic on or about Wednesday, December 23
Southbound Route 29 drivers will stay to the right to reach I-66 West
UPDATE (12/23): The ramp is planned to re-open on Dec. 24.
FAIRFAX – The loop ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) South to I-66 West in Centreville will re-open on or about Wednesday, December 23. Drivers on southbound Route 29 will stay to the right to access the ramp after passing under I-66. The loop ramp has been reconfigured to connect with the realigned I-66 as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway project.
Starting on or about the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 23, drivers should expect the following traffic pattern change, weather depending:
Ramp from Route 29 South to I-66 West
- Drivers on southbound Route 29 will stay to the right as they approach I-66 to use the loop ramp to reach I-66 West.
- The left turn lane and left-turn signal that have allowed drivers from Route 29 South to access I-66 West will close.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
As part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway project, the I-66 bridges over Route 29 are being lengthened, widened, and raised to provide room for any future mass transit along I-66 and future widening of Route 29. I-66 is being widened to provide room for Express Lanes. This work is being done in phases to maintain traffic on I-66 throughout construction. Learn more about work at the Route 29 Interchange.
Drivers should always use caution and pay attention to lane markings and roadway signs in construction work zones.
