Overnight Closures and Traffic Stoppages on I-66 East and West near Jermantown Road in Fairfax Continue Next Week, Nov. 23 and 24, for Overhead Bridge Work

FAIRFAX – Overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West near Jermantown Road are scheduled to continue next week for overhead bridge work for the new Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66. Lane closures and stoppages will occur nightly in both directions on I-66 Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area these nights and should consider using alternate routes.

Details include:
Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24
I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Route 50

  • I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Jermantown Road Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, nightly from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Jermantown Road Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, nightly from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
  • Drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 20 minutes in both directions on I-66 between 10:30 p.m. and 4 a.m. nightly.
  • All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. 

Message boards on I-66 East and West are providing advance notice of lane closures and traffic stoppages.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Jermantown Road Bridge over I-66 is being reconstructed as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
