Virtual Construction Update Meetings Oct. 28 and 29 for Transform 66 Outside the Beltway

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold two virtual construction update meetings next week to discuss recent construction progress and upcoming activities. The online meetings will include a presentation and question-and-answer period with representatives from VDOT, I-66 Express Mobility Partners, and FAM Construction. Each night will cover a different portion of the project corridor.

  • Wednesday, October 28, 2020, 7-8:30 p.m., covering activities between Bull Run and Waples Mill Road, including the Route 28 corridor
  • Thursday, October 29, 2020, 7-8:30 p.m., covering activities between Jermantown Road and the I-495 interchange area

Visit outside.transform66.org/events for links and instructions on how to access the meetings virtually through WebEx. Individuals who wish to call-in their questions, rather than writing questions through WebEx, can do so by calling 703-662-3892. The meetings will also be streamed live on the VDOT Live channel on YouTube and will be available to view online on the Transform 66 website the following day.

The Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project will provide new travel choices and congestion relief across a 22.5-mile stretch of I-66 from I-495 to near Route 29 in Gainesville. Improvements include new Express Lanes, more than 4,000 new park and ride spaces with convenient access to the Express Lanes, new and improved bus service and transit routes, interchange improvements, and 11 miles of new bike and pedestrian trails. Construction began in late 2017 with the new Express Lanes scheduled to be completed in late 2022.

VDOT and its project partners provide regular email updates to the public on traffic impacts due to construction activity.
