N. VIRGINIA TRANSPORTATION MEETING IS OCT. 25
Board seeks input on highways, rail and transit projects

FAIRFAX — On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Secretary of Transportation Sean T. Connaughton and the Commonwealth Transportation Board will host a meeting in Fairfax for the public to provide input on the development of the Six-Year Improvement Program for fiscal years 2013-2018.  

The program includes multimodal highway, rail and public transportation initiatives.

The meeting will be held at VDOT’s Northern Virginia Office, 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030, beginning at 6 p.m.

From 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the public can visit displays and meet representatives from the Virginia departments of Transportation, Rail and Public Transportation, Aviation, Motor Vehicles and Port Authority.

Following the open house session, individuals can speak for up to three minutes or submit written comments. Speakers may register at the door; there is no pre-registration.

A draft Six-Year Improvement Program will be available next spring, and public hearings will be held before the program is finalized in June 2012.
