Old Waterford Road Closures Next Week
Drivers asked to use alternate routes during rock removal

WATERFORD – Old Waterford Road (Route 698) between Loyalty Road (Route 665) and Hurley Lane (Route 703) will be closed to through traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 1 so that crews can remove a rock that protrudes into the roadway, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Residents within the closure area, emergency vehicles and school buses will continue to have access during the closures; however, they will not be allowed to pass through the work site.

Drivers can avoid the work via the following suggested alternate route: Loyalty Road, Butchers Row (Route 665), High Street (Route 665), Clarkes Gap Road (Route 662) and Hurley Lane back to Old Waterford Rd.

Message boards are in place to alert motorists.
