Update: The Woods Road is scheduled to open to traffic in its new alignment Nov. 5. 
 

LEESBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation will close The Woods Road (Route 771) to through traffic between Understory Way and Meadowcreek Place Wednesday, July 27 for approximately three months in order to construct the re-alignment of The Woods Road.

Through traffic will be detoured via Gleedsville Road (Route 650), Masons Lane and Evergreen Mills Road back to The Woods Road. Detour signs will be in place and message boards are already in place alerting motorists to the closure.

Residents within the closure area and emergency vehicles will still have access to the closed portion of The Woods Road, but they will not be allowed to pass through any of the work sites. Access to Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve will also be maintained during the closure.

The detour is scheduled to be lifted November 1. At that time, The Woods Road will open to traffic in its new fully paved alignment and intersect with Evergreen Mills Road just north of the existing intersection. The first phase of the improvements project is scheduled for completion in spring 2017. The second phase will add turn lanes on Evergreen Mills Road, with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2018.
