Detours in place for drainage structure work

***Update: Walker Road will reopen at 6 p.m. Friday, July 8.

GREAT FALLS – The Virginia Department of Transportation will close Walker Road (Route 681) to through traffic between Manning Street and Sunnybrook Drive from 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 6 to 6 a.m. Friday, July 8 for drainage structure replacement, weather permitting.

Through traffic will be detoured via two routes:

  • Colvin Run Road (Route 743), Route 7, Springvale Road (Route 674) and Route 193 back to Walker Road
  • Colvin Run Road, Route 7, Towlston Road (Route 676), Leigh Mill Road (Route 683) and Route 193 back to Walker Road

Detour signs will be in place. Message boards are in place alerting motorists to the closures.

During the closure, motorists will still have access to Walker Road from Colvin Run Road to Manning Street, and from Route 193 to Sunnybrook Drive.
