Popes Head Road Closure Extended Through Nov. 30
Detour will remain in place to complete bridge replacement

FAIRFAX – Due to weather delays, the closure of Popes Head Road (Route 654) between Colchester Road (Route 612) and Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286) to through traffic that began Oct. 15 is being extended through Friday, Nov. 30 to complete the replacement of the bridge over Piney Branch, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Residents, businesses and places of worship within the closure area, emergency vehicles, school buses and those traveling to and from the Fairfax County Police Range, Fairfax County Police Association building and Popes Head Park will continue to have access to the closed portion of Popes Head Road; however, they still will not be able to go beyond the point of bridge replacement in either direction.

Through traffic is being detoured via Fairfax County Parkway, Braddock Road (Route 620) and Colchester Road back to Popes Head Road.
