SALEM – The lane closure for emergency bridge repairs on southbound Interstate 81 in Roanoke County near Salem at mile marker 138.4 has been removed. Both southbound lanes on I-81 are currently open.

The right lane had been closed after a tractor-trailer struck and damaged the Goodwin Avenue bridge just before 10 p.m. on Oct. 20. The bridge is located in the work zone for the I-81 widening project.

Repairs started on Oct. 21 and were completed on Oct. 22.
