Under Construction: Route 58 widening - Phase IV Abingdon to Damascus Widening (Washington County)
Cost and schedule ►
Traffic alerts ►
Be alert to the possibility of periodic delays along the Virginia Creeper Trail and the South Fork Holston River due to tree clearing efforts and due to the replacement of the bridge over the river.
Public outreach ►
A virtual public meeting for the project was held April 1, 2021.
In late 2021, the project to widen Route 58 from 0.038-mile east of Route 708 (Bethel Road) to 0.278-mile east of Route 858 (Hollyfield Road) began in the Damascus area of Washington County.
During the project, recreational traffic along the South Fork Holston River and the Virginia Creeper Trail will be periodically impacted during bridge construction.
The project will provide a modern and safe four-lane highway between Abingdon and Damascus, a highly traveled area for recreational traffic as well as commuters.
