Coming Soon: Route 208 (Courthouse Road) and Hood Drive Intersection Improvement

SMART SCALE Dashboard

Cost and schedule ►

Public outreach ►

This project will build additional turn lanes on northbound Hood Drive to reduce congestion.

A raised median will be built on Hood Drive to separate northbound and southbound traffic between Courthouse Road and McGowan Drive. Additional sidewalk, crosswalks, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be installed at the intersection.

During construction, southbound Hood Drive traffic (traveling from Courthouse Road to Route 1) will be closed to through traffic. Through traffic will be detoured to use Courthouse Road and Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway). The detour length is around 1.8 miles and will add an estimated 5 minutes of driving time.

Northbound Hood Drive will remain open to all traffic during construction, and local traffic with residences or business on Hood Drive and McGowan Drive can continue to access the southbound lane. Once the project begins, construction will be underway for an estimated 12 months.
