Virtual Public Involvement I-64 Hampton Roads Express Lanes Newport News Segment (4A/4B)
The HREL Newport News Segment starts 0.139 miles east of LaSalle Avenue in Hampton and ends 1.20 miles west of Denbigh Boulevard in Newport News for a project length of approximately 13.5 miles. For the portion of the segment where there is an existing HOV lane, the project proposes three GP lanes and one Express Lane. For the last mile of the segment, the three existing eastbound and westbound GP lanes will be converted into one Express Lane and two GP lanes, totaling three lanes in each direction. The eastbound and westbound bridges over LaSalle Avenue will be replaced. The eastbound and westbound bridges over Armistead Avenue will be rehabilitated.
