About the Study
This STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) study is assessing operational and safety conditions near the I-264/ Brambleton Avenue interchange to include the intersections of Park Avenue at Brambleton Avenue and Kimball Terrace at Brambleton Avenue.
This study is intended to identify safety and operational improvements in the study area to address existing and forecasted deficiencies.
The I-264/Brambleton Avenue Interchange area currently has congestion during peak periods and has displayed crash issues.
Specifically, the main concern in the study area is congestion on the I-264 westbound off-ramp to Brambleton Avenue northbound in the morning peak hour that causes queues to spill on to I-264.
The improvements being considered include:
- Improved traffic signal timing/operations;
- Modification to the interchange;
- Access management;
- Pedestrian/bicycle facilities; and
- Innovative Intersections.
