About the Study
This STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) study is assessing potential safety and operational improvements for 2.6 miles of Route 17 (Carrollton Boulevard) between Channell Way/Deep Bottom Drive and James River Bridge in Isle of Wight County in the Hampton Roads district.
The improvements being considered include:
- Improved traffic signal timing/operations;
- Modification to intersection lane configurations;
- Access management;
- Pedestrian/bicycle facilities; and
- Innovative Intersections.
Route 17 averages about 29,000 vehicles a day within the study limits.
