Please note:

This project is rehabilitating the South Abingdon Street bridge over I-395 located between the King Street (Route 7, Exit 5) and Shirlington Circle (Exit 6) interchanges. The bridge was built in 1970 and rehabilitated in 1994.

The project includes:

  • Repairing concrete piers and abutments
  • Adding protective concrete barriers adjacent to piers
  • Extending and adding concrete in-fill walls between piers
  • Replacing bearings and reconstructing bearing seats

The existing sidewalks on both sides of the bridge will remain and the bridge bicycle lanes are being restriped as part of the project.
